Karu Shao is a Shanghai-based contemporary artist with a cross-culture background,
lived and created in China, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, and the US.

Her work is inspired by modern human living and expressed by intense color and extraordinary composition,
mainly in painting and new media, experimenting with digital art, silkscreen, and ceramics.

She is also a curator with a keen eye on fashion.
In 2019, she led a group of artists and fashion designers, put together a fashion show, THE WALKING EXHIBITION SHOW Edition I & II,
with experimental performing art with non-professional, like office ladies and delivery guys.
The show harvested the folk wisdom and raw beauty, brought out the quirky sparkle of daily lives, and re-powered our senses to see the brilliance in every ordinary people.

Karu Shao's work has been exhibited worldwide in galleries & museums including Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, The National Art Center Tokyo, Times Art Museum Beijing, Shanghai Exhibition Center, Czong Institute for Contemporary Art Korea.
